My family is in Utah for the first time since Christmas 2007. It's almost like coming back home, except there are more people, more stores, more construction, more room on 800 North, and more family to visit.
Our flight was nearly uneventful. Just the way I like it. There was very little turbulence and the boys were very well behaved. So was Angie. The boys each had their own activity bags, but they were hardly touched. Skyler's favorite thing to do in the airport was run along all the moving sidewalks. That was my favorite part too.
Angie and I are celebrating our seventh anniversary on this trip. Pretty cool stuff. It's nice to say we're still in love with each other. Actually, it's way better than 'nice'. For part of our celebration we went to the SLC temple. It was our first time for two things: attending that temple for an endowment session and attending a live endowment session. It was really cool for the more personal feel of it all.
A few restaurants are on our list of favorites and we made it to each of them. Bajio Grill has the best burrito classico, but they didn't have the honey chicken we were jonesin' for. Los Hermanos has the locally famous nachos supreme with added chicken and beef. The price has gone up several dollars, but it was worth the added memory; so were the specialty drinks Brisa de Mora Negra and Diablo Verde. Triple Yum. Training Table's succulent Hickory Burger, fabulous Turkey Bacon sandwich, and cheese fries with their Ultimate Dipping Sauce. That was the exclamation point at the end of our completed list of tasty treats from memory lane.
This has been the best visit back to Utah to date. It's been great catching up with family and a few friends. A few highlights were staying up late playing Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 with family, getting in another round of testing my board game and discussing necessary revisions, gingerbread waffles and cream for breakfast, seeing our kids get along better with their cousins, surprising my mom in person and hearing her squeal, seeing Skyler play with grandma and grandpa's dog, and bowling with 12 people.
